    For those of us not into pokemon, what is a starter? Plus it would be nice to know a little history about the whole pokemon culture.
    Please, I know I must sound like a real idiot but I know very little and would appreciate some insight.

    My favorite starter is charmander cause in my experience its pretty powerful. In the mystery dungeon pokemon game that I have it lets you pick a starter and a partner and i picked charmander with pikachu as a partner.
